and March 21st at 1:00 pm

A classic lives forever.  After all, as the good book says, “When Tower Players perform Fiddler on the Roof; you know it’s going to be amazing”.  All right, so it doesn’t exactly say that, but if you’ve ever seen a production by the Rumson-Fair Haven Tower Players before, you know that it’s going to be an unforgettable experience.

Set during the early 1900’s, Fiddler on the Roof transports the audience back to a provincial village at the onset of the Russian revolution.  Anatevka is brought to life by cast members who weave their way through the each scene, creating the fabric of the community as they carry on their traditions.  In this ordinary town lives Tevye (Austin Ryan) a poor milkman who converses with God and carries on his daily life, balancing precariously like a fiddler on a roof.  Along with his wife Golde (Patricia McCarron) and their five daughters, they live according to “the good book,” all its teachings, and of course, their many traditions.  However, Tevye’s beliefs and way of life are put to the test as his daughters reach marriageable age.  Rather than use the services of Yenta the Matchmaker (Stephanie Russo) each of his three eldest daughters, Tzeitel (Gianna Maita), Hodel (Gabriela Kenny), and Chava (Lucy Humphreys) is determined make their own match.  Tevye must decide how far he can bend before he breaks, as his devotion to his family and their future happiness threatens the established traditions that govern the lives of his fellow villagers.

Based on a series of short stories by Yiddish author Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof has been a staple of American musical theater since it first opened on Broadway in 1964.  This heartwarming musical features some of the most memorable songs in musical theater written by Jerry Bock including Tradition, Matchmaker, and Sunrise, Sunset.

Mrs. Suzanne Sweeney directs an enthusiastic and talented cast of nearly 50 students as they sing and dance their way through the Tony award winning musical.  The production team also includes Musical Directors Mr. Bill Grillo and Mr. Vince Mottern, Technical Director Mr. Dino Pagano, Choreographer Mrs. Alexis Marinov, and Mrs. Carole Malik, Props and Costume Designer.  In all there are over 100 students involved in creating this remarkable production.

The Tower Players invite you to join them on their journey into the past as they create a bright and shining rendition of this musical theater favorite.  You won’t want to miss it, so start a new tradition and bring the whole family.  As the good book says, “Last one there is a rotten egg”.  All right, so it doesn’t exactly say that.
