What Really Grinds My Gears: School Lunches

by Nick Lenczyk

Food and prices at RFH..well…aren’t great.  Not only that, but they get worse every year.  This year alone a slice of pizza has gone from an already unreasonable $2.00 to $2.25 a slice.  The quality of food also lacks to the point where the food is…similarly not great.  Grease and grime exist in  the food we eat.  The serving size per lunch isn’t even enough to fill you up and the price is not worth it.  For example, $3.00 for four chicken fingers,$3.00 dollars for popcorn chicken, and $2.00 for a little cup of ice cream.  Ridiculous.  I don’t know how teachers pay for the same lunches we eat, as their prices $1.00 more.

Maybe it’s time for a lunch overhaul here at Rumson-Fair Haven. Waiting for school to be over and eating at home is much more rewarding than the school’s four lunch periods.  Oh well, it isn’t worth it now because I only have eight more months in this high school…
